THOMAS SMITHERAM: “I first took an interest in music during the Covid lockdown where I discovered lots of artists like The Beatles, Oasis and U2 along with many others. I then learned how to sing and play guitar. Shortly after I then started to go busking in Glasgow’s city centre and I have been busking ever since. I was able to improve my musical abilities from busking and I have played restaurants, shopping centres, festivals and events. Along with playing cover songs I have also written lots of original songs that I’m always eager to play live. I would say I prefer playing my own songs rather than covers. I have so much love and passion for music and I’m thankful for everything I have experienced whether it’s good or bad. I’m also grateful for all the support I have received online and in person when I play live, it means so much to me. I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and in the meantime I’ll still be playing music wherever I can.”
OLIVIA-JANE: “I am a 17 year old singer/songwriter from Ayrshire. Having grown up listening to country music my whole life, this is where I take my main inspiration from when I’m busking and more recently when songwriting on my own. Since leaving school last year, I have been busking, performing at open mic nights and have even had a few gigs around Glasgow. I was inspired to do this after performing with my favourite country singers Brothers Osborne last May at one of their concerts. My confidence and passion for performing is growing by the day through busking and now I can’t wait to get up on new stages and see where I am headed on my musical journey.”
ROSS McGUIRE: “I started playing music 10 years ago when I was in high school. I picked up a guitar and got lessons and never looked back. Growing up my family were very musical, my dad is a DJ and Karaoke presenter so I grew up singing, fast forward to about 2015 and my brother and myself went out busking In Glasgow for the first time ever. This is where I would learn to grow my confidence and perfect certain aspects of my show. Busking was a massive part of the process to where I am today as it has taught me so many lessons and given me so many opportunities. Busking was the reason i started getting gigs and with more gigs became more opportunities. Eventually this paid off as I was invited to be on Emeli Sandé’s street symphony BBC show. This was my first real exposure on TV. Following this I had the opportunity to go to Germany for some shows and at the tail end of 2022 I was invited to Support Brad Heidi over in Galway. With only being 21 I have a lot of places I want to go with music and it’s all about working hard. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years with my music, my first release done just over 30,000 streams. To the people that have followed me along the way thank you very much and to the people that are starting to join I hope you enjoy the ride. Thanks R x”
THE FOLK DRAMA: “Violeta grew up in Hollywood and has sang all her life before moving to Scotland to continue her pursuit with singing. Aaron Wright is an award winning songwriter who has worked with the likes of Paul Heaton, The Charlatans blah blah blah. They have joined forces to deliver you some of the best cult indie Americana tunes you’ll hear! Today at least! In a little under a year the duo have opened for the likes of James Walsh (Starsailor), Chris Helme (The Seahorses) and have been championed by legends Ryan Adams and Paul Heaton. It has been some year! They are also proving to be a huge draw at festivals around the UK. They are currently recording their debut EP and they hope to bring you the best new tracks going.”
Thank you for your support and see you there!
