Thursday 2nd March
Starts 19:20 // Ends 22:00
Glasgow Streetsound, in partnership with Buskers of Glasgow (https://linktr.ee/BuskersofGlasgow), is a live music showcase at Room 2 Live, aimed at giving recognition to Glasgow’s (and further afield) talented musicians and street performers and giving them the opportunity to play in a city centre venue with a world class Funktion-One sound system.
Join us for an evening of amazing live music for #8 with Craig Weir & The Cabalistic Cavalry, Sarah McMurray, Daniel Ladds and Morrie Dolan playing.
CRAIG WEIR & THE CABALISTIC CAVALRY: “An indie folk rock band from Dundee. They formed in 2017 with the release of the debut single ‘The Highland Road’ in the same year. Hailed by BBC Scotland’s Janice Forsyth as, “a new anthem for Scotland”, the track features 21 different collaborating artistes who contributed their voices to the poetry section of the song. These artistes include Brian May, Alan Cumming, The Libertines, The View and Bay City Rollers. Describing his role in the track Brian May proclaimed ,“I was happy to pour a little of my Scottish blood into this epic”. Alan Cumming described it as, “really moving”. The song charted at number 11 in Japan’s Singer Songwriter chart. The band followed this up with the releases of ‘Fate Or Form’ in February 2018 and ‘The Stowaway’ to coincide with the band’s appearance at New York Tartan Week. They went on to release the Tales To Tell EP in March 2019 which Gigmouth hailed for its, “infectious riffs” and, “relatable lyrics”. This release was followed with support slots with artistes such as Skerryvore, Toploader, Kyle Falconer and Donnie Munro as well as shows across Europe and North America. They released the new four track EP, Reflections & Revelations on May 21st 2021. Discovery Music hailed the EP as a, “a band only on an upwards trajectory” with, “lyricism at the height of human relatability… a powerful vocal lead… riffs constructed to please the ears to their fullest extent”. The Courier hailed “Reflections & Revelations” as having a, “Britpop backbone and echoes of alternative act like Frank Turner or Hozier.”
SARAH McMURRAY: “A 22 year old Glasgow based pop singer/songwriter from Northern Ireland who has been writing songs for ten years. Inspired by artists and bands such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Maisie Peters, The 1975 and Noah Cyrus and stays true to her honest storytelling abilities in the hopes of pursuing a full-time career as a musician. Sarah can be found on TikTok and Instagram under @sarahmcmurray_ and all streaming platforms under Sarah McMurray.”
DANIEL LADDS: “A 24 year-old self-taught fingerstyle guitarist from the Glasgow area who in the past year has progressed his ten year passion for playing the guitar into a potential career kickstarted through busking with the aid of Buskers Of Glasgow and through opportunities such as live music and successful performances at the venue Room 2. This will be his third performance in the venue. Daniel plays many of his own arrangements as well as renditions from the likes of fingerstyle virtuosos such as Luca Stricagnoli and Andy McKee. Some of them with not one but TWO guitars! ”
MORRIE DOLAN: “A 20 year-old up and coming musician from the Highlands. She plays a variety of styles from Pop, Jazz, Folk and Country. She has been playing and composing from a young age and is ready to get her music out there.”
