Glasgow Streetsound #23, in partnership with Buskers of Glasgow (https://linktr.ee/BuskersofGlasgow), is a live music showcase at Glasgow city centre based venue Room 2 (just off Buchanan Street), aimed at giving recognition to Glasgow’s (and further afield) talented musicians and street performers.

Join us for an evening of amazing live music for #22 with Erin Hephzibah, 8 Days, Pilgrims Society and Time Gypsy.

ERIN HEPHZIBAH: “A musician and artist from Glasgow, Scotland that has been performing in bands & collective projects for over 10 years, including Mandulu & Hephzibah, Kodak Ghosts and most recently The Ronains. Over her career she has supported artists such as; Paolo Nutini, Jill Jackson, James Grant, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, Scouting for Girls and Big Country. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art, during the Pandemic, she has been working towards a 2024 solo release, with slightly darker and folky material, inspired by personal experience, folklore and a love for artists such as; Hozier, Etta James, Echo & The Bunnymen and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.”

8 DAYS: “Formed in 2021, 8 Days is an alt-rock band consisting of Fin Price (Guitar&Vocals), Sam Jones (Bass) and Ailsa Jarvis (Drums) – the band name arising from the fact they were all born within 8 days of each other.  Their first single ‘You Need It’ was released in October 2022 followed by their second single, ‘Splendid Isolation’ in April 2023. Their next single ‘Perfect Prison’ was released in July 2023.   8 Days have focused on both song-writing and performing with regular gigs at MacArts in Galashiels as well as festivals, and have played Whistlebinkies in Edinburgh.”

PILGRIMS SOCIETY: “Conceived in Uganda and born in the UK, Pilgrims Society is the brain child of Philip Ologe. His vision to fuse the music of Africa and Northern Europe with the funk sound of America in the 60’s and 70’s. the result: Pilgrims Society a group of 6 musicians from different backgrounds and cultures who have found themselves based in the UK either by default or choice. Over the past few years Philip has surrounded himself with musicians capable of delivering his vision. Erik Mauricia, a master conga and African Percussion player, as well as singer, constantly in demand for workshops and session work and a pretty good dancer! Joe Djealani, a composer, arranger, guitarist and singer. Joe brings the detail and focus to the free form writing environment. Ross MacPherson, a rock drummer now fully immersed in African and Latin rhythms bringing power and funk to the fore. Al McIntyre, composer, arranger and bassist more at home on the fretless bass than most. Al is the bridge between the melody and intoxicating rhythm of the band. Louis MacDonald, Pilgrims Society are blessed to have someone like Louis as part of the project. A multiinstrumentalist and improvisor of the highest order Louis electric mandolin interprets the mood of the music in ways only he can deliver. Philip Ologe, composer, arranger, lyricist, guitarist and lead vocal. Philip is the driving force behind the whole project. In 2023 Pilgrims Society ventured onto the Festival circuit playing Celtic Connections, Butefest, Prestfest, Solfest, Eden Festival, Scarecrow Festival, Love Music Hate Racism Benefit and Carnival to name just some. We also released our first track in September this year, ‘Take Your Time’ securing record of the week and good air play. 2024 will see us building on that experience Pilgrims Society is looking nationally and internationally and will be releasing further tracks and securing good quality gigs. We are seeking professional representation to collaborate with and progress into the future to our mutual benefit.”

THE OX: “Psychobabble outlaw-country punk n roll.”

Please select the ticket option for the act you are primarily buying your ticket to support. £8+BF in advance. £10 entry on the door (cash or card).

We will be joined again by the volunteers from the charity Love Hope Strength Foundation, who will have a table up the back of the room (behind the sound desk), if you would like to chat to them about how to sign up to join the UK’s blood cancer and leukemia donor register. It’s a very easy and quick at the gig process. You could save someone’s life!
