Boston’s Horse Jumper of Love have spent the last decade carving out their own corner of the indie underground — a world of slowcore, shoegaze, distortion and intensely personal songwriting where quiet moments can hit just as hard as the loud ones.
Formed in 2013, the trio of Dimitri Giannopoulos, John Margaris and Jamie Vadala-Doran first built their reputation through Boston’s DIY and house-show scene. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2016, beginning life as a raw, lo-fi record made with little expectation of how far it would travel. Instead, it developed a devoted cult following and helped establish Horse Jumper of Love as one of the most distinctive names emerging from the modern slowcore scene.
Since then, the band have continued to push their sound forward across albums including So Divine, Natural Part, Heartbreak Rules and Disaster Trick — moving between fragile, stripped-back songwriting and huge, fuzzed-out guitars without losing the intimacy that has always defined them. Their music sits somewhere between shoegaze haze, slowcore restraint and raw indie rock, with Giannopoulos’ understated vocals giving the songs a deeply human edge.
Their rise has taken them from basement shows to international tours and major festival stages, sharing bills with artists including Duster, DIIV and Alvvays. Now, as they celebrate ten years of their landmark debut, Horse Jumper of Love return to the UK for a special anniversary tour.
