Straight out of Sydney, Australia, The Buoys have been making noise since forming in 2016 — and they’re bringing that noise all the way to Room 2 Glasgow.
Fronted by founding member Zoe Catterall, alongside Tess Wilkin, Courtney Cunningham and Hilary Geddes, The Buoys have carved out their own corner of alternative rock with a sound that’s loud, raw, infectious and impossible to sit still to.
Their journey has taken them from the Sydney indie scene to stages alongside some seriously big names, including IDLES, The Dandy Warhols, Arctic Monkeys and Hoodoo Gurus. They’ve also built a reputation for a seriously energetic live show, with their punk and grunge influences coming through at full volume.
After three EPs, the band released their debut album Lustre in 2024, featuring tracks including I Want You, Check Mate, Guard My Heart and Holding On. Check Mate, co-written with Australian alternative-rock artist Alex Lahey, delivers exactly what The Buoys do best — grungy guitars, a huge chorus and plenty of attitude.
Now they’re bringing that sound to Glasgow.
