Independent Venue Week 2023 with Esperanza, The Dughoose Ska Band and Local Authority in Room 2 Live, Glasgow.
£10+BF in advance. £12 on the door. 14+. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. ID required (Young Scot card, driving licence (full or provisional), passport or birth certificate).
“Independent Venue Week #IVW23 celebrates the spirit of independence and culture of live music and venues. The one week all of the independently spirited venues come together with artists, promoters and media to celebrate the art of live music. We can’t wait to celebrate #10YearsofIVW in 2023 and write the new chapter with all the amazing independent venues around the UK.”
ESPERANZA: “A nine-piece ska collective from Glasgow famed for live shows where their infectious rhythm has the crowd involuntarily jumping in time. In several hectic years of gigging around the UK, they have honed and perfected a high-tempo set, with superb self-penned songs, until there isn’t an ounce of fat left on it. The quality of the band’s live shows has led to them being increasingly in demand: playing at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony; festivals up and down the country; and supporting some of the biggest names in ska, punk and reggae, including Toots and the Maytals, The Skatalites, The Wailers; Bad Manners, The Beat, The Selecter, Neville Staple, The Undertones, Fishbone, The Slackers and The Toasters.”
