Mima Merrow: “Mima Merrow is a Belfast born, Glasgow living singer songwriter. Her music is a unique blend of alternative folk; her subtle Belfast accent peeking through wistful piano lines and dynamic sonic builds. Influenced by that which is ancient in our landscapes, elements and bodies, her thoughtful lyricism is held together by intimacy, pain and stories to challenge her listeners. She self produced and released her debut EP, Good Grief, on the 4th December 2020 which was met with a very positive critical response. “A startling first taster.” ~ Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music. “When beautiful poetry and great sounds collide.” ~ Roddy Hart, BBC Radio Scotland. “Full of fire.” ~ Stephen McCauley, BBC Radio Ulster/BBC Radio Foyle. “A stunning display of soul that is baring all.” ~ Richy Muirhead, Scottish Alternative Music Awards. “Definitely one to watch” ~ Mark McGhee, You Call That Radio?”
DIGNITY ROW: “Dignity Row is a Glasgow based band formed in Late 2020. The core band is Jamie Campbell covering Song writing, Keyboards, Vocals and Guitar, Dario Palazzo on Guitars, Gavin Patterson on Drums/Sound Engineering, Hermie Longalong on Saxophone and Julian Pombo on Bass Guitar. Lead vocals are split between Jamie and a number of other featured vocalists including Christopher Campbell, Emma Gabarda, Catherine Ann Tierney and Hannah Foth. Jamie was offered a recording deal/publishing deal with Polygram at age 21 with a band called Cliché, but decided not to pursue this offer. He then played in a number of popular Indie bands including Kick Reaction and Big Sur, supporting Wet Wet Wet, Deacon Blue, Robert Cray, and The Levellers. Dignity Row are working on their first album, being recorded at STUDIO 1790 in Cumbernauld (near Glasgow). 5 original songs have been released so far on all the major streaming platforms, and getting great feedback and airplay on local radio stations. There will be further interim releases of song before then on Spotify and iTunes, including a Christmas single!”
Cede: “The combined songwriting talents of Becci Wallace and Alan Kerr. The two met as post-graduate students on the maiden run of the University of the West of Scotland’s MA Songwriting and Performance. While they quickly became friends, it wasn’t until after graduation that they became frequent collaborators. Stranger still, it was the first national lockdown in 2020- being forced physically apart and unable to meet face-to-face- that facilitated a fruitful and fulfilling output of new songs. It proved both were skilled at writing together, even if apart. The hand Becci had in this songwriting powerplant, churning out new material, can’t be understated. She and fellow music artist Rosie Bans co-founded “Songs From Lockdown”, an open-to-anyone Facebook group that pitched weekly peer-led tasks to its members. The amount of new music this group was responsible for in those restricting and uncertain months was staggering, but perhaps most important was the respite it provided so many of its participants. To begin with, practitioners were writing on a mostly solo basis. Much to Alan’s gratitude, Becci suggested they co-write some more songs of their own to add to their growing list of collaborations. United by a self-proclaimed love of collaborating with others, they called themselves Cede. Taking influences from their mutual tastes in music as well as their individual ones, and across different genres and songs spanning decades, their shared vision was for a lyrical focused, acoustic duo. The unique combination of their talents has resulted in an EP of real, melancholic quality, written in the shadow of an unprecedented year of torment for far too many, where they re-evaluate the common tropes of love, loss and others’ need for attention.”
Torture and the Desert Spiders: “A left-field garage project based around the songwriting of New Jersey-raised artist, Anna Kunz. With a fluid lineup that shifts per city, the sound ranges drastically from heartbreaking ballads to intensely jagged post-punk* pieces. Recently they’ve been played on KEXP’s Sonic Reducer and shared the stage with bands such as ARXX, Hallan, Average Sex, Gallus, The Lounge Society and more- the project continues to build steam throughout 2021.”
