Glasgow Streetsound, in partnership with Buskers of Glasgow (https://linktr.ee/BuskersofGlasgow), is a live music showcase at Glasgow city centre based venue Room 2 (just off Buchanan Street), aimed at giving recognition to Glasgow’s (and further afield) talented musicians and street performers.

Join us for an evening of amazing live music for #24 with Steeljoy, Hoyden, Justine Beverley and Pommes Frites.

STEELJOY: “The latest musical incarnation of west of Scotland based artist Jen O’Brien. Genre-spanning bittersweet melodies meet hard-hitting lyrics in English, Irish (Gaeilge) and Gàidhlig exploring the intersectional issues of misogyny, gender, class, discrimination, environmental destruction and more.”

Steeljoy album All Us On Fire released Thursday, April 25 2024 to critical acclaim and has been nominated for the Scottish Album of The Year Award. Single’s and music videos ‘Both And’ and ‘Dá Rachaidh Mé’ (which loosely translates to “If I (Were To) Go”) released ahead of the album; listing at 10 in The Skinny Music Now: New Scottish Music list, as Resonate Artist of The Week and cover artist for their Sounds of Scotland 2024 Playlist, with national and international radio airplay including CamGlen featured artist, BBC Scotland and Amazing Radio USA.

HOYDEN: “Lorna Adams learnt to play the ukulele at age 10 and since then has been creating noise with their songwriting and singing. A queer artist originally from the Scottish Borders and Midlothian, now based in Glasgow, Hoyden is known for their Greek mythology songs and sense of humour. Playing at Room 2 on October 3rd will be Hoyden’s first gig in Glasgow.”

JUSTINE BEVERLEY: “A gifted country singer-songwriter hailing from France who has taken the Glaswegian music scene by storm since her debut Open Mic in March 2023. Inspired by country and folk artists such as Gillian Welch, Evan Honer, Lainey Wilson, Sons of the East and Beluga Lagoon, over the past year she has passionately crafted more than 20 original songs, each one a reflection of her journey through Scotland, the U.S. and Australia. 2024 performances have so far included the Danny Kyle Open Stage at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of Celtic Connections, the Live Lounge at Country2Country hosted at the OVO Hydro, and a set at the Vishnu Lounge at Eden Festival. Accompanied by the folk duo Mist & Wing, she supported the band Westbound Foxes at Broadcast. Currently, she is in the process of recording a five-song EP, featuring originals in both French and English.”

POMMES FRITES: “A 4 piece alt-rock outfit from Alloa (home of the mighty wasps!), bringing you some joyous melodic alternative indie music as well as a healthy serving of post punk and kraut rock. ‘Pommes Frites’ combine the songwriting of Alan Carberry (of Fuzzy/Real Life Entertainment) and Darren Brown (Ouijan/Gary & The Holdalls) with the intricate guitar mastery of Josh Clark and powerhouse Corey McNaughton on the kit.”
